Ice is currently on at Minersville, roughly around 5-6 inches. We have had such good success at Panguitch Lake ice fishing when the ice first comes on that we thought we would give Minersville a shot and see if it would be hot too. Well I can say that it was not hot it was really slow. I am not sure if this is because you can't use bait here or if Minersville is just typically slow in the winter.
We caught 8 fish all day in 8 hours. Although I did have a big one on that broke my pole and I lost him right when I got him to the hole. It was probably the biggest fish I would have ever caught. Jimmy also had a nice one on that broke his line. So the fish are bigger but fishing was slow.
It was a full moon the night before so this could of played into things as well, who knows? We caught most of them on white and brown tube jigs. Nate did catch one on a little ratfinke type jig. We bought some smelly jelly and used this not sure if it helped or not. There were about 5-6 other fisherman there all catching about 1 an hour.
One of the guys up there had a picture of a fish from the day before that somebody caught that was about 27 inches and fat!! We were hoping to catch the same but the biggest fish we caught was around 19 inches. Here are some pics from our trip.
