Panguitch Lake Ut Ice Fishing Dec 17th 2011

So we have realize that as soon as the ice goes on Panguitch there is some really good fishing to be had for probably the first two weeks. After that it seems to be hit and miss the rest of the year. Jimmy and I ran up this morning with some white tube jigs tipped with worms. We had one of the funnest fishing trips that we can remember. We figured that by the days end we had caught around 40 fish between the both of us. Jimmy caught the biggest fish of the day really nice rainbow. We caught a bunch of cut throat as well.

Fremont River Utah Fishing Report Nov 18 2011

This trip we stay in a cabin near Torrey and fished the Fremont River. We paid the Fremont River guides to fish a stretch of the Fremont where supposedly it is supposed to be really good fishing for Browns. Well the trip ended up being a bust we didn't catch much at all but I guess still had fun.
Jimmy doesn't look too happy haha he had been fishing for hours with no luck.

Nate caught a nice little brown. I caught a reallly nice one but couldn't find the pic. I think those were the only two fish we caught that day on the Fremont.

After we fished the Fremont in the morning we headed up to a small lake on the boulder called Pine Creek Lake after we hiked up to it we found out that it was pretty much frozen over. We punched a hole through the ice and looked down there but didn't see anything. I put a fly on and put it down the hole but didn't have any luck.

Pine Creek Lake Utah Bld Mtn Sept 3 2011

I really wanted to go catch some pretty fish so my Dad and I decided to run up to Pine Creek Lake on the boulder. We fished a little beaver pond below Pine Creek Lake and I caught 2 little cuts. Then we hiked the rest of the way up to Pine Creek. I hike our little raft in because I wanted to make sure we were able to get around the whole lake and have a better chance of finding the fish. We ended up finding them all at the deepest part of the lake. We through tons of flies at them for about 1 and half until I figured out they really like brown wooly buggers with a little bit of green mixed in the tail. Once we found that out we ended up catching about 6 with then next hour and half. We caught some really pretty cuts and also Colorado Cut Throats.

Mammoth Creek Ut Fishing Report Aug 6th 2011

Jimmy and I had the opportunity to run up to Panguitch and camp out and then fish Mammoth Creek the next day. Im sad to say that we fished for from about 9 to 3 or 4 and only caught one fish. We tried scuds, nymphs, buggers, and dry flies like a parachut adams. I finally caught one on a bead head pheasant tail. Nice sized brown maybe 12-13 inches. I don't know where the pic went but here are few of us on the river.

Panguitch Lake Ut Fishing July 23rd 2011

The family and I ran up to Panguitch for the day. We wanted to get out of the heat and hang out as a family. I took my little boat because Shaylie my 4 yr old wanted to go fishing. I took my fly rod but decided to just troll around so that she could catch some fish and have fun. We ended up catching 3 nice rainbows and since my mom and dad wanted some to eat we kept them. Shaylie ended up catching all 3. It was kind of funny because by the time I had her line ready and in and then got my line out she would catch one. She had a blast and I can only hope that she will like fishing and let me take her more as she gets older.

Enterprise Reservoir Ut Fishing Report June 7th 2011

So Jimmy has been getting me into fly fishing again. He bought me this fly fishing book and we have been going fly fishing. My family and I decided to run up to Enterprise reservoir on a Friday night to roast some hot dogs and get out of the heat. I took my fly rod just to see if I could catch something. I put a green bugger on and started stripping it in by the boat dock and caught this little rainbow. I only fished for about 30 mins because I had to get back to the family but it was fun figuring things out on my own and actually catching something.

Kolob Reservoir Ut Fishing Report 6/4/2011

The end of the rainbow spawn was near so I decided to cruise on up to Kolob Res on Saturday June 4th 2011.  My wife was 5 months pregnant with our first baby and she was at work that say so I thought I would get all the fishing I could in before it got too close to her due date.  I started fishing around the corner from the spillway in my float tube.  I was dragging wooly buggers near the shore to see if I could catch a late spawner cruising the shoreline and protecting his/her beds.  I had a few bites but did not land any.  As I was out in my float tube i noticed that there were a ton of guys that had driven up from Las Vegas to fly fish and they were standing right in the middle of the best spawning bed in then entire lake!  I could not believe it, they were standing in a gravel pit with about a foot of water in it and they were casting into deeper water.  None of them had polarized glasses so I am sure that they did not even realize that there were fish all around them.  The area I am referring to was right in front of the spillway and what made it even better spawning grounds was that there was a natural slow moving current pulling water out of the res and over the spill way.  I noticed that they were not catching a thing so I was a little discouraged and I thought I might have missed the heaving spawning era and that I would have to wait til next year.  I was wrong though!  I waited for them to leave and I literally ran over there as soon as they were pulling their trucks out.  I started to throw egg patterns in front of all the fish that these guys were standing on and I slayed it for the next few hours.  Here are the pics I took.  There was a guy and his wife fishing the dam with bait and not catching anything so I had him come over and take some pics for me.

It was awesome because the fish were fighting over the egg as it slowly drifted into their spawning beds.  It was neat to see their behavior as I stood there for hours and watched how territorial they are of their eggs.  The females would turn on their sides and I could see them flash every time they did this.  What an awesome experience.  Those guys from Vegas missed out, they were literally standing on top of fish all day and did not know it. Great trip to Kolob Res!
